The Team
The founding members of Piping Preference are Stewart Hamilton, Alan Serrells, Bryan Serrells and David Ogilvy. They are all top class, world pipe band championship prize-winning pipers, who have a wealth of experience playing the pipes at top grades 1 & 2 throughout the UK and also further afield in Europe and North America. They are all highly experienced at playing the bagpipes both individually and in bands.
Our pipers can play alone, with a drummer, or as a mini pipe band, and they will travel to your event. Piping Preference has more than 10 pipers plus 2 bands available for the majority of bookings. We take a maximum of three bookings per date to ensure that we always have a back-up and to ensure the best possible service at all times. Travel expenses only apply outside a 25 mile radius of Glasgow. They wear the full Highland no.1 or no.2 dress as shown in About the Bagpipes. For full details of what we can do and example costs, see our Services and Prices page.
Outside his work as a Surveyor, Stewart Hamilton’s main interests are skiing, golf, hillwalking, sailing, mountain biking – and socialising of course. He also plays other instruments: the Scottish small pipes and digeridoo.
Tom Dingwall has been a Pipe Major for decades and teaches the bagpipes as well as making them. His varied career has included owning and running a hotel which averaged 3 weddings a week. His interests include riding motorbikes and organising ceilidhs!
The Piping Preference administration is handled by Stewart from the office in Gartocharn.
